2018 Election of Officers

PTA's mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

A triumphant election is important to our PTSA as it is the foundation to perpetuity. Voting is open to all Burke High School stakeholders and community members. 

Every elected officer is expected to maintain the values of the Burke High School PTSA


Elections for the Burke High PTSA will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 5:30 p.m. in the Media Center. Officers for the following positions will be elected:

Nominations will be taken from the floor. If you are selected as a nominee, you will have two minutes to speak. Your speech should include how you are affiliated with Burke High School and how, as an officer, you will work to support BHS students, parents, and staff. 


One nominee should be selected for each office. Nominations from the floor will be called for at the election meeting. 

Each nominee is required to accept the qualifications: 

  • Knowledgeable about and adheres to the Vision, Mission, Purposes and basic policies of PTA.
  • Willing to attend continuing training for PTA.
  • Prior experience in either PTA or other organizational work.
  • Is ethical and has a sense of justice and fairness.
  • Exhibits enthusiasm for PTA.
  • Willing to make PTA a high priority in his or her schedule.
  • Exhibits professionalism at all times (i.e., school, community, and PTA functions, etc.), especially when conducting PTA business. 
  • Must be a team player. It takes teamwork to make the dream work!
